> PRODUCTS AND SERVICES:

IGL maintains a large fleet of delivery vehicles to ensure fast and efficient delivery of product to customers in any part of Trinidad.

Product may be supplied in either gaseous or liquid form and can be delivered via bulk liquid tanks, gaseous tube trailers, high-pressure tubes or cylinders. For onsite supply, product can be delivered in gaseous form via generating systems such as PSA, VPSA, VSA and/or membrane systems.

Cylinder product is distributed from IGL’s Aranguez Sales Outlet. IGL also maintains a network of authorized distributors throughout Trinidad and in Tobago.

IGL’s products and services are used in virtually every sector or industry in the country

Petroleum and Petrochemical

• Nitrogen is used for purging, inerting, blanketing and pressurizing of vessels and pipelines
• Carbon dioxide and nitrogen are used in enhanced oil recovery applications
• Carbon dioxide is used for fire fighting
• Carbon dioxide is used for acidizing and fracing oil and gas wells

Steel

• Nitrogen is used for the inerting of hot reactive material when casting, and for the inerting of direct reduced iron during storage and shipping in order to protect the material from the effects of oxygen and moisture
• Oxygen is used to enhance fuel utilization in furnaces
• Carbon dioxide and Argon are used for the stirring of molten steel in the ladle furnace

Cutting, Welding and Fabrication

• Oxygen and Acetylene are used for oxyacetylene welding and cutting applications
• Argon is used as a shielding gas in specialized welding applications eg. alloys, reactive metals
• Carbon dioxide is used as a shielding gas in MIG welding

Healthcare

IGL supplies medical gases and gas mixture for virtually every aspect of medical therapy

• Medical oxygen and compressed air are used for life support
• Nitrous oxide is used as an anaesthetic
• Liquid nitrogen is used for cryosurgery and for the freezing of blood plasma
• Dry ice (solid carbon dioxide) is used for the preservation of blood plasma and urine samples

Food

• Food grade liquid carbon dioxide is used in the soft drink and brewing industries
• Dry ice is used as a refrigerant in airline catering
• Liquid carbon dioxide and liquid nitrogen are used in food freezing applications - IGL supplies and installs freezing equipment
• Nitrogen is used for inerting and pressurizing food and beverage storage containers
• Gas mixtures are used in controlled atmosphere packaging to inhibit bacterial growth and thus retard spoilage
• Liquid nitrogen and liquid carbon dioxide can be used in cryogenic grinding of heat sensitive products such as spices in order to retain flavour and aroma

Water Treatment / Utilities

• Carbon dioxide is used as an alternative to strong acids as a neutralizer of alkaline residual water
• Oxygen is used in the generation of ozone which can be used as a substitute for biocides by inhibiting the growth of bacteria, algae and fungi
• Hydrogen is used to reduced hysteresis  losses in turbines used for power generation
• Nitrogen is used to maintain the integrity of undersea electrical cables

Manufacturing

• Gases are used as chemical reactants, refrigerants, inerting media and as coolants in manufacturing applications
• Oxygen is used to promote combustion and reduce harmful emissions

Agriculture

• Various gases and gas mixtures are used in the controlled atmosphere storage of several fruits and vegetables in order to prevent deterioration
• Carbon dioxide is used as a fumigant to protect agricultural produce against insect and fungal attack
• Liquid nitrogen is used for the preservation of semen for artificial insemination

Specialty Gases

IGL supplies a range of specialty gases and related equipment such as:

• Ultra pure gases
• Gas mixtures – including standard mixtures
• Electronic grade gases

These gases are used mainly in laboratory and analytical applications

Exports

In addition to serving Trinidad and Tobago, IGL also exports cylinder gases such as carbon dioxide, ammonia, nitrogen, nitrous oxide and acetylene to the Caribbean islands and to the South American mainland

Liquid carbon dioxide is also exported in bulk to the Caribbean islands.

Installations

IGL configures, installs and maintains gas storage and distribution systems and application equipment for applications that require bulk storage of product at customers’ sites such as medical oxygen at hospitals, carbon dioxide at soft drink manufacturers, carbon dioxide for food freezing and nitrogen for inerting at petrochemical plants
