Neal and Massy Group Chairman Nazir Ahamad dies

Mr. Nazir Ahamad, Chairman of the Neal and Massy Group of Companies, died peacefully in Miami on Friday May 21st, 2004 after a brief illness.

Mr. Ahamad’s association with the Neal and Massy Group spans more than 40 years, starting in the early 1960’s as a customer, then as a business partner, shareholder and non-executive director.

In recognition of his business acumen and leadership, he was appointed to the Board of Neal and Massy Holdings Limited in 1988 and subsequently became the Group’s Chairman in January 2001.

In mourning his passing, Group Chief Executive Officer Bernard Dulal-Whiteway has extended the Group’s deepest condolences to Mr. Ahamad’s wife and children. He noted that “with his passing, Naz, as many fondly called him, has left behind not only a legacy of successful companies, but also an illustrious example of a life well spent and worthy of all imitation.”

Mr. Ahamad will be buried on Wednesday May 26th, 2004 after a funeral service at the Naparima Bowl, San Fernando. The body will be interred at the Paradise Cemetery, San Fernando.
